From Green to Black to Green Again
The Cyfarthfa Foundation has been established with the aim of transforming Cyfarthfa Castle and Park at Merthyr Tydfil – a crucible of the industrial revolution - into a cultural centre and visitor attraction of national significance. The transformation of the castle's museum and galleries will take place alongside a doubling in the size of the existing 65ha park, cheek by jowl with the Brecon Beacons National Park
The three inter-connecting themes that underlie the Cyfarthfa Plan are history and heritage, the natural environment and creativity. As well as drawing on the past, they are also relevant to the pressing issues of today, especially where a lively but economically disadvantaged community is searching for new solutions in an era of climate change. Social renewal and sustainability will be at the heart of everything we do.
